by Hunter Jives on / Minders

Childcare Centre’s Cranbourne

Are you about to make a major decision regarding the wellbeing of your child? You may be thinking of enrolling him or her in a day care or childcare center in Cranbourne. However, before you select a day care for your child, make sure you keep the following things in mind.

The location

If you plan to leave your child at a day care Centre you have got to make sure that it’s near to where you live or commute to work. This is because children can get fussy, especially if they are not well. Having a Centre which is nearer to your place would help you reach there on time in case of an emergency. Plus children can get fussy on longer commutes so by the time, you drop them off they are already cranky and in a bad mood. This holds true for younger children, while the elder ones might enjoy the long ride, but the little ones surely wouldn’t.

Do your research

Do you know anyone who has their child enrolled in a childcare centre in Cranbourne? If you do, it would be helpful to have a little talk with them. Whether they are satisfied with the current day care syste, wht positive aspects does the particular day care have and all that. This would give you a fairly good idea whether the place you want to send your child is good enough or not.

When asking about the day care, make sure of all of the following

  • The number of care givers for a particular number of children
  • Make sure that the Centre isn’t too over crowded. Sometimes the popularity of a day care entails that loads of children are enrolled and maybe your child wouldn’t get the kind of attention he or she requires
  • Also get to know how they schedule your child’s day. Whether they spend it being monitored or are simply left to their own devices. Some day care allow a great deal of free time for the child, however a more structure schedule is sometimes more important. It helps build better habits.
  • Not all child care Centers have a same approach towards children behavior. You are to make sure that the place your child goes to emphasizes on building good habits from an early stage.
  • If your child suffers from any disability or a special condition, get to know whether the child care Centre would be able to accommodate your child or not. They need to have a special unit to manage children with special needs.
  • Do they teach your children anything which would help them in their admission towards kindergarten? Though not a particular syllabus pattern, but some basic knowledge regarding math and English skills can definitely help build your child’s base.

When you keep all of the above in mind you would be able to select the best child care in Cranbourne for your child. For more information on the policies and working system of the best day care centers make sure you contact Cranbourne Central Early Learning.

Preparing your Child for Kindergarten

by Hunter Jives on / Minders

When it’s time for your children to make transition from day care to kindergarten, it can be pretty stressful. There are a hundred things in your mind and you may have wondered how you could help your child prepare for kindergarten. The following are a few tips which can actually help make learning easier and fun.

You can start with the following activities.

  • Help children practice learning to write their names. This gives them a sense of ownership and gives them confidence. The ability to write their names makes children feel more confident.
  • Start by alphabet recognition along with the sounds. This would help children learn phonics faster and would help them with their reading as well
  • Help them look up common sight words. Keep in mind that frequent practice can only help a child and nothing else would. Make sure you take out time even if its ten minutes a day.
  • Similarly daily recognition of all upper case and lower case letters would help make recognition easier.
  • Start with numbers. This doesn’t have to be an everyday rote of numbers but can be practiced using basic every day house hold items. Children love playing with beads. Make sure you have large ones which they can thread and count as well. There are magnetic number games as well which make learning easier and a great deal more fun remember the key to good learning is actually based on how much your child enjoys his or her lessons at home.
  • Always make sure that you read to your child. Children learn by observing, set an example yourself. If you read your child would surely imitate you. The first time a child shows interest in book make sure you support that interest whole heartedly. Take you children to the library, have them buy their own books according to their age. All this would develop your child’s interest.
  • The importance of reading can’t be stressed enough. It is essential to take at least fifteen minutes of your time and allow your child time to read and learn.
  • Teaching children to be independent. Children should be able to tie their own shoes and pull up their zippers. All this would help make your child gain the necessary confidence.
  • Children should be able to know their home phone number. Though it may not be easy for most kids to do so, it’s easier when they learn it through a song. Use the tune of any nursery rhyme and make your children memorize the numbers on a daily basis.
  • Make them aware of strangers. This is one of the most important thing you can teach your children. Teach them to say no when offered gifts like candies and sweets and practice stranger safety.
  • Teach them to eat their lunch out of the lunch box. Most children aren’t prepared to do o and this can be troublesome for parents. Start practicing at home so that your child is a pro by the time kindergarten starts.

They try to seek out how you feel about something before they make their decision. If you appear to be nervous or apprehensive, your child will pick up on this. So what can you do to ensure that you are comfortable sending your child to their new kindergarten in North Rockhampton? Get to know their teacher and become an active member of their classroom.

Getting to Know Your Child’s Teacher

One of the most important things you can do is get to know your child’s teacher. Not only will it put your mind at ease about sending your child to kindergarten, it also opens the door for communication about your child’s education and classroom behavior. It also makes the teacher feel more comfortable in approaching you about situations in the classroom, rather than labeling your child based on their behavior at a given point in time.

The key to getting to know your child’s teacher is that you want to build a relationship with them, not just a dialogue. You want them to know that you are there if your child needs anything, or if they have any concerns. You will also want to become an active member of your child’s classroom, even if you can only show up once every few weeks. Helping with a snack or helping the teacher by coloring or laminating classroom materials can provide a welcome relief.

Get to Know Your Child’s Teacher

Getting to know your child’s teacher is very important. You want to know what type of person is teaching your child, and you want the teacher to feel comfortable talking to you. Ensuring that you are always polite and that you consider situations they bring up carefully before you respond is very important. Teachers are under a lot of stress, and approaching parents about problems their child is facing in class is not the best part of their job.

When you do talk to your child’s teacher, it is important that you do not only talk about your child. While talking about your child is important, creating a bond with their teacher on a personal level is too. Far too many parents forget to ask teachers how they are doing. By being recognized as a person, and having someone truly care about how they are as a person, teachers develop a sense of appreciation, which they deserve. Teachers rarely feel appreciated for all of the hard work they put in, so showing your appreciation can really go a long way in building this relationship.

      Ask How You Can Help

You may not have a lot of free time, but asking your child’s teacher how you can help will provide them with a great relief. Whether it is helping to provide a snack for your child’s kindergarten class, or you take the time to help prepare materials they will need in class, you are helping to provide your child with a well-rounded education that you can be actively involved in.
